French club Lorient and Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi converted neatly from the spot kick in the 31st minute to hand Lorient their first win of the new campaign as they secure a 1-0 home victory over As Monaco.

The Nigeria international was surging forward in a promising attack for the home side before Monaco’s Ismail Jacobs gifted away a penalty after bringing Moffi down in the 18 yards box on the half hour mark. With power and precision, Terem Moffi slotted the ball into the bottom right corner to score the only goal of the contest.

Monaco though enjoyed the lion share of possession but persistent effort to pierce Lorient solid defensive line proved to be abortive as the attacking trident of Kevin Volland, Sofiane Diop and Myron Boadu were left toothless all through the nineties.

Lorient however have moved to the top of the standings following their triumph in tonight’s encounter against Monaco and after grabbing a total of 4 points in their opening two games of the season while As Monaco seat at 16th spot after claiming just a single point in their first two games of the campaign.
