As the start of the 2021 Afrobasket Championship draws close, D’Tigers of Nigeria will begin preparation for the competition in Oakland on Monday.

Nigeria who are drawn in Group C alongside Ivory Coast, Mali and Kenya will aim to reclaim the title they won in 2015.

The rise of Nigerian men’s basketball team recently has been massive, that has however put them as the favorite to clinch the title, despite potential competition from defending Champions Tunisia.

With the Tokyo 2020 Olympics out of the rada, Golden State Warriors assistant coach, Mike Brown could become the first foreign manager who has an NBA medal to clinch the Afrobasket title with D’Tigers after he was confirmed to be the coach for the team, heading to Rwanda, Kigali.

The list of invited players is yet to be released by the federation.

Nigeria will face Mali on the 25th of August in the group opener at exactly 11 am.
