Belarusian club FC Minsk Women and Nigerian pair of Onome Ebi and Ibiang Otu have been knocked out of the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification following the 2-1 loss suffered at the hands of Rosenborg Women in the UCL play-offs at FC Minsk stadium.

In an encounter that featured the two Super Falcons players Onome Ebi and Ibiang Otu, the visiting side Rosenborg Women were the forerunners; breaking the deadlock in the 30th minute courtesy of Julie Blakstad strike before the home team striker Armisa kuc levelled matters up 7 minutes before the interval.

The Norwegian outfit Rosenborg Women who were dominant in the contest kept asking questions from Minsk Women’s defense in the latter half and finally broke their resilience after in-form striker Lisa Utland doubled the advantage to seal off victory for the visitors in the 75th minute; one that secures them a place in the second stage of the Champions League qualification.

Following their exit from the Women’s Champions League, Minsk FC will turn attention to domestic duties and will be willing bounce back from the Champions League disappointment when they visit Bobruichanka Women in the Belarusian Women’s League on 28 August.

Onome Ebi and Ibiang Otu will hope to build on their current form in preparation for the forthcoming Aisha Buhari Invitational Tournament which will be hosted in Nigeria.
