The president of Nigeria Basketball Federation Engr. Musa Kida in recent interview said that “We are going to have a Premier League competition this year.”

Kida in a recent interview reiterated his desire for the Basketball league in Nigeria to kick-starts, pinpointing the league could begin in September.

The Nigeria Premier Basketball League has been on haitus for more than 3 years now, but hopes has been ignited as the league could be back soon.

In his remarks the conference elimination will begin on September 7, afterwards Nigeria representative will be known ahead of the FIBA Africa tournament.

“We are very determined that we are going to have a Premier League competition this year. So I am really very happy to announce to you that we have already written letters to the clubs, and in that light, despite the fact that we don’t have a sponsor yet , we are going to dig into personal means in terms of hosting the Premier League for this year, starting with the conference eliminations on September 7. By beginning of October, we’ll be able to conclude with the finals in Lagos. With that we’ll be able to have a league champion that can represent Nigeria, in the continental FIBA Africa, tournament.”

Kida has called for meeting amongst all the clubs, but the venue of the meeting is left to be seen.
