Defending champions PSG, enjoyed an easy 5-0 victory over local rivals Fleury 91 in their first match of the 2021/2022 season.

The capital side were impressive for the entire duration of the game. PSG had little or nothing to worry about, as it only took them 14mins to register their first goal of the season, courtesy a Sandy Baltimore strike.

In the absence of some of their key players that helped them win the league for the first time last season, ending Lyon’s run of 14 consecutive. Irene Paredes (Now with Barcelona ) Christiane Endler (Now with Lyon FC), amongst others, PSG looked all set for the task at hand this season.

Reacting to the win, PSG’s coach, Didier Olle Nicole said “We knew that we were playing against a team that was reenforced,it will be necessary to mixed up things in the midfield and use the sides to get them tired, the first goal came from the left side and the second from the right. We tried a lot of things today.”

Didier believes his team still needs to work hard and get to know themselves as they grow into the league.

“If we are going to have a style, the girls have to work together and get to know each other”.

PSG travel to Montpellier for their second game of the season.

The Canadian trio of Ashley Lawrence, Jordyn Huitema, Stephanie Labbé and Swedish Amanda Ilestedt all displayed their medals from the Olympics after the game. Amanda’s side got the silver medal in the football category at the just concluded Tokyo Olympics while Ashley, Jordyn and Stephanie got the gold.
