Liverpool have rejected the Egyptian Football Association’s request to call Mohamed Salah up for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers die to coronavirus restrictions.

The group phase of qualifying in Africa for the 2022 World Cup finally kicks off on Wednesday. Egypt have two important games against Angola and Gabon at the beginning of September and were hoping to call upon their star man services.

Egypt is currently on the United Kingdom’s red list, meaning the forward would have to quarantine for ten days upon his return to his club-side, Liverpool.

According to various reports, The Pharaohs’ are trying to workaround the decision. This could mean Salah will only feature in hi side’s away match against Gabon but not play in the Angola game.

Egypt plays in Group F alongside Gabon, Angola and Libya.
