Nigeria D’Tigers will once again lock-horns with Mali and Uganda, this time at the FIBA World Cup qualifiers, as the draws for the qualifiers were made on Tuesday afternoon in the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball.

Nigeria are grouped alongside Cape Verde, Mali and Uganda in group A.

Nigeria last featured in the 2019 FIBA World in China, when they sealed automatic spot for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. They enjoyed a 3/5 run, beating South Korea (66-108), Ivory Coast (83-66) and China (73-86).

In group B, 2021 Women’s Afrobasket host, Cameroon will line up against African heavyweight Tunisia and South Sudan. In group C we have Ivory Coast, Angola, Guinea and Central Africa Republic. Egypt, Senegal, Kenya and Democratic republic of Congo completes the group D.

Set to take place in two years in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia, the FIBA Basketball World Cup’s 2023 edition marks the first time multiple countries will host this showpiece event.
