Liverpool have a wealth of talented forwards, but Genk’s technical director believes their Nigerian striker can add another dimension to the team’s attack.
Liverpool should recruit Paul Onuachu, according to Genk technical director Dimitri de Conde, since the forward might provide something fresh in front of goal for the Reds.
When Liverpool faced Chelsea two weeks ago, they had a man advantage, but the Reds were unable to capitalize on the position as they were unable to score after Reece James was sent off.
De Conde believes that the 6’7 striker’s physicality and greater aerial presence could have been the key to breaking down Chelsea’s defense.
“He would have scored against ten men.” De Conde told HBVL as per the Sun.
“I’m not saying that Paul would play 90 minutes every week in Liverpool, but a club like that could really use him.”
Last season, Onuachu was a pain in the neck for defenders, scoring 35 goals to help Genk finish second in the Belgian top division and win the Beker van Belgie trophy.
Following his success last season, the former Midtjylland man was anticipated to leave the Luminus Arena in the summer, but ties to West Ham, Lyon, and Arsenal failed to materialize.
The 27-year-old will want to match his previous season’s achievements in order to convince prominent European clubs that he is the real deal.
