Enyimba FC of Aba, two-time CAF Champions League winners, have named ex-Nigerian international George Finidi as the team’s Technical Adviser.

Finidi will take over for Fatai Osho, who led the Aba Elephants to a second-place finish in the Nigeria Professional Football League’s 2020-21 season.

Enyimba will try to rely on the expertise of a guy who was one of the first Nigerian players to find success in Europe, having won more Champions League titles and NPFL crowns than any other Nigerian team.

Finidi was a significant member of Ajax’s three Eredivisie wins, as well as the 1995 UEFA Champions League, the European Super Cup, and the Intercontinental Cup.

From 1991 to 2002, he was capped 62 times for Nigeria’s Super Eagles, winning the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia in 1994.

The 50-year-old resigned from competitive football in 2004 and has since obtained a UEFA B license to pursue his goal of becoming a coach.

Finidi had previously coached with the young team of his former club Real Mallorca in Spain, and has been linked with the Golden Eaglets coaching position on multiple occasions.

The former Real Betis brilliant winger will take the next step in his chosen career with Enyimba.
