Danny Drinkwater has heaped praises on 2013 Nigeria U17 invitee Ovie Ejaria for his man-of-the-match performance in Reading’s 2-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Drinkwater, who won the Premier League with Leicester City in 2016, has branded Ejaria as a “wicked talent” and said the former Arsenal and Liverpool prospect is a vital asset to the Blue Royals.
Ejaria opened the score with an unstoppable shot past Paulo Gazzaniga in the 19th minute, then gave Reading a two goal goal cushion in the 53rd minute when he controlled the ball and tucked into the top corner.
After coming off the bench in the first half, Drinkwater played alongside Ejaria for roughly 70 minutes on his Reading debut.
“I’ve watched the last two games and I was involved today. I can see the chemistry and it can only get better,” Drinkwater was quoted as saying by Reading’s official website post-match.
“Ovie is a wicked talent. I’ve only trained with him a bunch of times and today I played with him… if we can get him firing that will be a massive attribute for the club and our team.”
Ejaria, who won the 2017 U20 World Cup with England, has elected to play with the Super Eagles at senior level and has filed to FIFA for a change of association.
