During his playing career, the Ivory Coast icon was one of the best attackers in the world, and Rohr feels Nigeria’s golden boy has the ability to reach the same heights.
Victor Osimhen, according to Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, has what it takes to become the new Didier Drogba.
Drogba was regarded as one of Africa’s best finishers.
Given the fact that Drogba is no longer playing, Rohr feels Osimhen has the ability to follow in the footsteps of the former Olympique Marseille striker.
The Nigerian is presently at Napoli, where he was signed last season for a club and African record cost of 81.3 million euros.
Whilst his improvement has been inconsistent since his arrival, his quality has never been questioned.
“I think Osimhen has what it takes to become a great striker, one of the best ever,” he told tuttomercatoweb. But he still has to grow.
“He can become the new Drogba. I have no doubts about this. Victor has many qualities that recall those of the Ivorian legend.”
Last Thursday, Osimhen demonstrated his quality by scoring two amazing goals to help Napoli come back from a two-goal deficit against Leicester City.
With the brace, Osimhen has now scored 50 goals in his career. He, on the other hand, continued his excellent form when Napoli played Udinese in Serie A on Monday night, scoring once more and it made it 51 club goals.
