A Lille football fan who was pictured exposing himself to a stand where Lens fans were seated on Saturday, is set to be prosecuted after masturbating in front of the home supporters.

The suspect, who is in the process of being identified, could soon be summoned to the central police station in Lens and will be prosecuted for “sexual exhibition”, a crime which leads to a one-year prison sentence and a €15,000 fine according to the French penal code.

On Saturday afternoon, incidents between supporters erupted at half-time in the match. Six people, including a CRS, were slightly injured, in particular by thrown seats. The League’s disciplinary committee decided on Monday to impose two closed-door matches on RCL as a precaution.

“Two minutes before the invasion, Lille supporters provoked the Lens (fans) by pretending to climb over the gates.”

“Lens supporters crossed the pitch towards the visitors’ stand.

“Just before, Lille threw projectiles over the grid which separated them from Lens supporters.” Amine Mohamed, A French journalist said.

Other investigations currently underway regarding the derby concern the pitch invasion, the throwing of objects (notably seats), and a Nazi salute. This Saturday’s incidents saw six injured in total, including one member of the riot police who intervened to push back Lens fans’ pitch invasion.

Lens secured all three points courtesy a late strike from Polish Przemyslaw Frankowski.
