Golden Eaglet ace, Adeshina Mubarak Gata has laid claim on his foresight to become the next Austin Jay-Jay Okocha in Nigeria after he agreed a deal with Greek outfit Asteras Tripolis two weeks ago, Ojbsport has exclusively revealed.

The 19-year-old attacker earlier plied his trade with the Nigerian National League outfit Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club, Ilorin, Kwara State — a second division club in the Nigerian Professional Football League — prior to his move to Greek Super League club, Asteras Tripolis.

The Nigerian international was a material asset to the Golden Eaglet during the U-17 AFCON in Tanzania having shone brightly at various local competitions and leagues across the Federation.

Upon successful completion of his medicals and paperworks, Mubarak Gata spoke to ojbsport correspondent Abdulmalik Fawwaz from his base to express his delightfulness on becoming a part of the Greek giant while setting his eyes on helping the team clinch silverwares.

” Asteras Tripolis is a great club and I am here to win trophies. I want to play a big part in helping the club win trophies in the league and in Europe next season.”

In a further conversation, he told Ojbsport of his utmost desire to become the next Jay-Jay Okocha in Nigeria and how his move to Europe offers him the platform to attain that feat.

” I’m in Europe now and I want to make the best use of this opportunity. I want to become the Jay-Jay of the new generation in Nigeria. I know I possess the qualities to do so and I know I will need to work hard but I believe I will get there some day.”

He also shed light into the hurdles of moving to Europe, glorifying God for his mercies all through the process.

” Most youngsters in Nigeria hope to play in Europe but it come with big challenges. I am really grateful to Allah (God) for being with me throughout. Not many players make it in trials but mine differs, so I need to prove myself here and I take it as a challenge for myself.”

Mubarak Gata however showed profound gratitude to his boyhood club, ABS FC Ilorin, his family members and friends, appreciating them for their significant contribution towards his development as a footballer and how he promises to make them proud at his new club.

” ABS Ilorin has done a lot in my life, I can’t even say. I am what I am today because of them, because of my parents, family and friends. I want to be the best and make them proud. I know they will appreciate that I become a great player.”

He concluded by sending message to Asteras Tripolis fans that he his ready to bag the goals and hopes to see them on the pitch very soon.
