Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has suggested current Blues boss Thomas Tuchel doesn’t know how to utilise club-record signing Romelu Lukaku.

The west London club suffered a 1-0 defeat on Wednesday evening against Juventus, only a few days after losing at home to Manchester City in the Premier League.

He said on Sky Sports Italia: “He still has room for technical improvement, but he has already reached very high levels.

He can improve in some phases of the game, he needs to be switched on sometimes.

He’s impressive, he’s one of the most difficult forwards to face: he always has to be played, but at Chelsea they don’t quite understand how to use him.

If they understand, Chelsea will become the team to beat.”

Lukaku was excellent during his time in Italy while being managed by Conte. The pair won a Serie A league title together last term as the 28-year-old scored 24 goals in 36 appearances.
