Leicester City head coach Brendan Rodgers has come out to clarify the talks of Kelechi Iheanacho being a midfielder.

The Scottish gaffer believes the Super Eagles player is more of a player that can create and also score goals but is purely a striker and should be deployed in that role.

In recent times there have been talks of the Owerri born being a midfielder. Ex Nigerian Internationals like Friday Elahor had advised Gernot Rohr to deploy Kelz in a midfield role just behind the striker.

Speaking to the media after yesterday’s game against Crystal Palace in which Kelechi scored, the former Liverpool coach revealed his thoughts about Kelechi’s position:

“He’s a player that, over a period of time, will either create or score a goal. (But) he can’t play in another position. He’s purely a striker. When you play with two strikers, there’s a chance behind that”

In 2017, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr revealed that he cannot confirm the position of the 24 year-old either as a number nine or ten.
