Former Manchester United and Nantes player Fabio da Silva says he his certain that Ole Gunnar Solksjear is the rightful manager that can pilot Manchester United affairs, Ojbsport has exclusively revealed.
The 31-year-old defender who spent six years at Old Trafford, winning the Premier League and Emirate FA Cup once apiece during his sojourn at the club has expressed his view giving his backing for Ole Gunnar Solksjear to remain as Manchester United manager.
Ole Gunnar Solksjear has been heavily criticized for the Red Devil’s lacklustre performances in recent games after winning just two matches in their last six games with both of those victories coming thanks to last-ditch interventions from David De Gea and Jesse Lingard at West Ham and Cristiano Ronaldo at Villarreal.
The castigation became intense following United’s frustrating 1-1 home draw to Everton on Saturday as Andros Townsend netted a second half equaliser in the 65th minute to ensure both teams shared the points.
However, Fabio, who worked under the reign of Ole Gunnar Solksjear at Cardiff believes his ex-manager remains capable for the United job. He told Ojbsport correspondent Ojora Babatunde that:
” Ole is the right man for Manchester United. For me, United has improved a lot in the way they play. I knew United is gonna have some pressure after Sir Alex, because every manager is gonna be there and maybe the media and the fans is not going to feel those coaches are good enough. So it’s going to be hard for the manager as Sir Alex Ferguson is the greatest coach in football. “
The Brazilian fullback also made recourse to his days at Cardiff revealing Ole’s influence in his move to Cardiff City in 2014 January transfer window.
” Ole called me three days (before his Cardiff job) saying I want you to come here. I said to him (Ole) that Cardiff is hard, they are bottom of the table and he convinced me that No!, we are not going to relegate. We will keep up. At that point, I believed him and wanted to help him because Ole is a fantastic guy, a top, top manager.”
Fabio da Silva plays alongside Nigerian Moses Simon for French Ligue 1 side Nantes FC, a club he joined from Championship outfit Middlesbrough in 2018.
