Umar Sadiq of Almeria is being watched by Tottenham Hotspur as a possible successor for Harry Kane next season.
Tottenham Hotspur are keeping an eye on Umar Sadiq’s growth, according to Fichajes. The Almeria forward has wowed onlookers with his performances in Spain’s Segunda Division, prompting many to pay close attention to him.
Sadiq was linked with a move to Sevilla in the summer, but the deal fell through because Sevilla couldn’t afford Almeria’s €25 million asking price.
Spurs are a significant candidate in this transfer drive because the Spanish club is now wanting close to €30 million, which is likely unreachable for any La Liga club.
Umar Sadiq, formerly of AS Roma, joined Almeria last summer for just €5 million. The forward scored as many as 20 goals in his debut season with the club, but it wasn’t enough to get his team promoted.
However, the striker’s strong form has continued this season, with six goals in just eight outings. As a result, it’s clear that the Nigerian is overqualified for the Spanish second division and would love to go on to the next level of his career.
Tottenham Hotspurs might be an attractive option for the former Partizan number nine, whose 1.92m height and goal-scoring ability make him a great fit for the Premier League’s rugged style.
The North London giants are on the lookout for fresh strikers who can not only support but also replace Harry Kane next season. Despite a poor start to the season, the English striker remains high on Manchester City’s priority list.
In that aspect, Sadiq’s ability to function as a target man allows him to blend in seamlessly. It’s especially good news for Nuno Espirito Santo, who prefers the classic number nine position after working with Raul Jimenez at Wolves.
Sadiq’s lack of experience at the highest level of football will, without a doubt, make him an unsuitable Kane replacement. Should Tottenham sign any high-profile attackers next summer, he might show to be a bargain and a great squad player for just €30 million. He can either emerge as the main frontman or function as the number two.
The Lilywhites have been linked with a move for Fiorentina’s developing star and another ex-Partizan wonder Dusan Vlahovic in recent weeks, but they are up against arch-rivals Arsenal.
