French President Emmanuel Macron will be part of a charity match against a team of medical staff from the Poissy Saint-Germain-en-Laye hospital on Thursday in the suburbs of Paris, Poissy.

According to RMC sport, the 43-year-old President will be playing in the midfield alongside Olympique Lyon’s manager Rudi Garcia and Bordeaux legend Alain Giresse tomorrow. The proceeds from the match will go towards improving hospitalisation conditions for young people in France as part of the Pièces Jaunes campaign.

Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger and Chelsea’s legend Marcel Desailly will also be part of the charity game. French women’s international Laure Boulleau would also be part of it at, as she’s expected to start from the left-back. Former Monaco and Lyon striker Sonny Anderson starts up front. Sidney Govou, Robert Pirès, and tennis player Richard Gasquet will also feature on the bench.

President Emmanuel Macron has never hidden his love for the round leather game. He his a big fan of Olympique Marseille and a fervent supporter of the French Senior National team ‘Les Bleus’.

Four months ago, the President made a promise to the mayor of the city of Poissy, Karl Olive, that he will visit Poissy to play football when the health situation permits.

“I will come and play when the health situation permits”. And he’s about to fulfil his promise.

The Varieties Club de France is a French football club founded in 1971, bringing together media personalities as well as famous former football players. The club will be celebrating its 50th anniversary throughout 2021 and begins its 51st season on September four in Melun, a suburb of Paris.
