Paris Saint Germain and Brazilian forward Neymar has been ruled out of PSG’s Champions League week three game against RB Leipzig.

The 29-year-old most expensive player featured in his country’s home win against Uruguay last Thursday, playing 90 minutes in that game having also featured in their 0-0 draw in Colombia the previous weekend.

“Neymar felt a twinge in his leg which meant he couldn’t do all the tactical preparations ahead of the game.”

“He was then assessed with the medical team, and they took the decision that he will not be in the squad tomorrow. It wasn’t my decision. In terms of the way that we work, everyday we have a meeting one hour before training where we discuss with the performance team, medical teams and the technical teams to analyse every player.”

“Whenever a player is on the pitch, it is because they have medical authorisation.” PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino told reporters at the press conference on Monday.

PSG currently sit top of their Group with four points, having drawn Club Bruges in Belgium and beaten Manchester City at the Parc des Princes. With Messi opening his goal scoring against his former gaffer.

Club Brugge sit second with the same points as PSG, while Manchester City sits third with three points. Leipzig, meanwhile, sit bottom of the group.
