Barcelona and French defender Samuel Umtiti in a recent interview has made it clear that he has no plans to leave the Barcelona team next January.

The France international has not featured for the Catalans since May 22. Dutch coach Ronald Koeman told him he has no future at the club. But the defender is keen on staying with the 2015 Champions’ League winners.

“I do not see myself playing in another club, no. It is impossible. It is very clear. I want to show that I have what it takes to play here.”

“Nobody knows what I have done, what I am doing. Double training sessions and all. I am a hard worker.”

“I am waiting to have an opportunity to show that I am very well, although it is being a bit difficult.” Umtiti said to ‘Sportive World’

The 27-year-old defender moved to Spain from Lyon in 2016 for £21million. Due to the current financial crisis, Barcelona are desperate to cash in on him in the 2022 January transfer window. Barça want to save as much as possible on his wages as he does not feature in their plans at all.

Umtiti also had a talk with the club’s President about his future with the club.

“I spoke with Laporta and the truth is that it was a very important and intense conversation for me. I wanted the President to know that I am well. He said he can see that but I have to show it.”

With Eric Garcia, Ronald Araujo, Gerard Pique Clement Lenglet and Oscar Mingueza all ahead of Umtiti, it’s not looking like the World Cup winner will be getting any playtime soon.
