Le Mans FC survived a spirited atmosphere at the Stade Bauer, Paris, to secure their first away win of the season, moving up to the sixth position in the French National standings (Third-tier).

The Visitors raced into a two-goal lead advantage in the first 16 minutes, Donisa Julio scoring in the 12th minute and Macalou Issouf scoring in the 16th minute to silence the home crowd.

Damien Durand pulled one back with a superb header in the 24th minute to give the home crowd a reason to cheer up.

Red Star came all out after the goal in search of an equaliser and were almost rewarded for their courage. Moussa Guel’s left foot attempt was stopped twice by Le Mans’ goalkeeper Pierre Patron. The chances followed one after another, especially on set pieces, but there was nothing to show for it.

As the first half progressed, the game fell into a more evenly matched tempo, with both sides struggling to create significant chances before the whistle went off.

The second half continued as the first ended, with Red Star struggling to make any inroads offensively. Despite creating lots of chances, Red star succumbed to defeat at home.

Newly appointed former Marseille, Newcastle and Aston Villa defender Habib Beye will be hoping to take Red star back to winning ways as they travel away to Créteil on Thursday.
