The world’s most prestigious individual football award will return later this year after a year break owing to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on worldwide domestic football.
Earlier this month (October 8th), 30 players were shortlisted as nominees for the award.
A total of 30 players were nominated, including multiple members of the Italian national team which secured victory in the Men’s UEFA Euros last summer.
Perennial winners Lionel Messi (six-time winner) and Cristiano Ronaldo (five-time winner) both got a shot at it once more this year after dominating the Ballon D’Or for the past twelve years.
According to leaked documents, FC Bayern Munich and Poland’s striker Robert Lewandowski has won the World’s Best Player Of The Year Award organized by French news magazine France Football.
