The ongoing Chief Onigbinde U-17 Football Tourney has reach the quarter final stage.

The tournament which began on October 20, 2021 at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium has so far produced 42 goals in 23 matches played.

Thirty two teams amongst Southwest states of Nigeria have been slogging it out and battling for honour, however, eight teams are left after day seven of the event.

Young stars, Phoenix, Oyo Selected, Lakeside, Kadesh, Brightville Gold, Difference FC and Alo FC are the teams left in the competition.

Brightville Gold Academy, Ibadan and Phoenix FC, Lagos have been the shining light at the championship. Both teams have scored 10 goals apiece with Phoenix accounting for the highest scoring encounter in the tourney, demolishing Atico FA, Ibadan by 8-2 in their round of 32 fixtures.
Brightville has won games convincingly, first whipping FC Challenge by 4-0 before trouncing Oscar Delta by 6-1 in the round of 16.

Alo FC (2 goals), Difference (3 goals), Kadesh (2 goals), Young Stars (1 goal) while Oyo Selected and Lakeside are yet to record a goal at the tournament. Oyo Selected won both round of 32 (vs Akfem) and 16 (vs Hood Heroes) encounters via penalty shoot having played out goalless encounter while Lakeside have benefited from two walk overs.

Quarter final games are set to played on Thursday (today) and Friday respectively.

Young Stars will be battling Phoenix in the first quarter final game on Thursday (today) while Oyo Selected will be up against Lakeside in the second game of the day.
Friday will see Kadesh vs Brightville Gold and Difference FC against Alo FC.

Meanwhile, inline with one of the goals of the competition, partnership was sealed with Maxi Sports International to spot talent and give them a platform to achieve their dreams.

Players are to be selected during the competition with a final face-off amongst themselves coming up on November 6, 2021.
