Victor Osimhen of the Super Eagles has gastrocnemius contracture in his right calf, according to Napoli.
Osimhen left training early before of Napoli’s Serie A match against Salernitana for an alleged muscle pain.
The Olusosun born had a test to see what kind of damage he had, and it indicated a contraction of his right gastrocnemius.
The gastrocnemius muscle is an important mover of your lower leg and is responsible for normal walking and running actions. The gastrocnemius joins the soleus to form the Achilles tendon, the large tendon that attaches to your heel bone
Victor Osimhen conducted diagnostic tests at the Pineta Grande facility on Sunday, which found a gastrocnemius contracture in his right calf, according to a statement on Napoli’s website.
The 22 year old has started treatment and will be evaluated again in the following days.
Osimhen’s return date is unknown, however depending on the severity of his injury, he could be back in a few days.
The loss of Osimhen is a major setback for the Neapolitans, with him beign been the club best performer in all games so far this season.
With nine goals in 12 games for the Neapolitans, the former Lille player has started the current season with a blazing run of form.
However, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr ha s included Victor in his 24 man sqaud for this month’s clash against the Lone Stars of Liberia and Cape Verde’s Blue Sharks.
Rohr will be watching the youngster closely ahead of the November 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde and Liberia.
