The Super Eagles of Nigeria are through to the next round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, with a 1-1 draw against stubborn Cape Verde at the Teslim Balogun stadium in Lagos.

After a comfortable 2-0 win against Liberia last Saturday, all the Super Eagles needed was to at least get a point against Cape Verde, a task which they achieved.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen pounced home the first goal from close range, as Nigeria took the lead in the opening minutes of the game. Just when you thought the 3-time AFCON champion would hang on, Ianique dos Santos Tavares leveled things up, getting the best out of Watford man, William Troost Ekong from a corner-kick in the 6th minute.

After that equalizer, the Tubarões Azuis kept on pressurizing the Super Eagles of Nigeria, coming close to taking the lead with too many defensive buffooneries from the Nigerian defenders, luckily for the African giant all of those chances went begging.
