Ashleigh Plumptre saw 63 minutes of action in Leicester Conti cup win away from home against Durham on Wednesday night, handing the foxes their first win in all competitions this season.

Leicester head coach Jonathan Morgan, made just one change from the side that had lost to Brighton last time out in the WSL (Women’s Super League), as English Georgia Brougham replaced Sophie Barker in the defence.

Durham’s Abby Holmes was shown a straight red card for tripping Molly Pike in the closing stages of the first half. The first half ended goalless.

The second half saw the visitors come flying out of the blocks, scoring twice in the opening stages.

Howard’s cross was expertly turned home by O’Brien at the far post, finding the bottom corner in the 51st minute.

Five minutes later, Molly Pike cooly turned home Jesssica Sigsworth’s cross from close range to score her first Foxes goal.

The Foxes will be hoping to capitalize on the win to secure their first point of the league, as they take on Everton on Sunday.
