According to Owngoal, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has been sacked as coach of the Nigeria Senior National team.
The decision to sack the Franco-German gaffer was taken after a company associated with the senior National team of Nigeria, agreed to pay the termination clause in the contract of the coach.
The Nigeria football Federation (NFF) have communicated the decision to the former Niger and Burkina Faso coach, and have started the search for a new coach who will pilot the affairs of the team for the 2022 World Cup Play offs, and also the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year.
Nigeria will face any of Ghana, Egypt, Cameroon, Mali or DR Congo for a place at Qatar 2022.
Good! He is not capable

Long over due! His tactics and charisma as a coach as always been questionable to me. Nigeria football lost its steam since he took over.

Praise GOD ALMIGHTY & The Spiritual Hosts of Our Land Nigeria. I fervently hope this is news in not a Poju Poju news? It is will be an understate to say ‘Good Riddance of Rotten Rubbish’. I pray the NFF for once will recruit a sound Technical Trainer and an efficient Man Manager both will cooperate to prepare the national for knock out phases for Qatar WC 2022 & Cameroun AFCON 2022.

This is the most heartwarming decision to safe Nigeria from shame on the footballing arena. Rohr should have been consigned to waste paper basket a long time ago,but thank God the situation can be redeemed if the NFF does a good job in searching for a technically competent coach to handle our team. Good riddance to bad rubbish

Long overdue. I have never been convinced with his tactics. It took him how many years to have a steady team? Aside that, he was never available to look at the home base guys. Not all that are abroad are that spectacular, we have some good guys in our local league as well. we need to encourage them. He should just go abeg.
LikeLike
On the contrary, our home base players can’t fit in because they lack the experience and are not good enough. However, Genet Rhor is never a tactician from day one.

Will see at the world cup, with What they were playing, the have no business going to word, may the new coach will change things n their style of play

the greatest decision from nff that man is not a coach for the eagles it’s now left to see who they are going to employ

But who employed the “incompetent” in the first place deserves a serious lash- my thoughts though!

You are right about the government not caring. The news could be true because it states that a company has paid the termination fee. Now is time for nff to make money through getting new coach. Business as usual. They will not get a renown coach.

Everyone is saying a good development but y’all never really credited him on what he did for the team before now. A coach that took us to the world cup, got us to Caf nations cup 3rd place and invited foriegn professionals to the team, we even played a draw in a friendly with the Brazilian team during his tenure now we can let the NFF destabilize the team now and be back to our usual permutations Nigerians are never satisfied…

Gernot Rohr has not done anything that a Nigerian coach has not done. He is not technically and tactically sound.

So you think this coach can make the Super Eagles fly in the forthcoming world cup? Are you telling us you are satisfied with this half baked results? Haba. If we had been drafted into the group of the likes of Ghana, Algeria, Egypt and Cameron, do u think the Eagle would have made it to the top the table? I throw not!

My brother you have said it .Gernot technical ability cant lead Nigeria to quarter final .but now that he is gone I beg our oga dem that want to fix their friends in europe who is not technically good should stay away .dont collect (egunje) and try sell idiot coach to Nigeria. Let me use this opportunity to beg that company associated with senior to finish what they have started by looking for good coaching crew like zidane and many more qualified not half baked coach .

Wrong move for me
Sacking a coach before our playoffs
Hmmm, i see who stands to gain from this
Definitely not the fans

With him there still doesn’t make any difference. We are better off without a coach. They play like they just gather and kick the ball anyways, so why do they need a coach if I may ask? Good riddance to bad rubbish. How can taking us the the world cup be an achievement?. It should be our right while getting to the semi finals of the world cup be our target.

Just look at his achievement you mentioned, even with the little time late Stephen Keshi stays as the national team coach, he archieved more than him Yet they payed him huge salary.
CAF 3rd position; that’s Nigeria’s birthright even before he dreamed to coach Nigeria. Or you called World cup group stage and archievement too

Sacking him to me doesn’t mean he can’t fit any other club in the world brother, but super eagles of Nigeria in history have gone far beyond his knowledge and enthusiasm. If I were to be in that team as a local champion bro, that man can hardly motivate me. Is the club now a freestyle that he cannot be decisive with what he want. Those achievements you talk about are just luck. You should know that it is only the coaches body language that changes game while on the pitch, but that guy’s body language is not in existence again, take it or leave it

A lot of people took Nigeria to world cup and never go beyond 2nd round. His world cup was no difference . Keshi gave us CAF . Rohr spent 5years played 64games and won 28.

They should bring an indigenous coach like Oliseh with a better arrangement who knows the peculiarities of Nigerian football and our style of play. I think he’s smart to modify our traditional style to fit into modern football.

Great decision!!!!
The man definitely cannot qualify Nigeria for the next world cup in Qater!
Central Africa Republic beating super eagle to nill at home soil and with array of stars paraded, super eagle cannot beat Cape Verde at home!!!!
What a shame!

Algeria with all their stars couldn’t beat Burkina faso too… They had to qualify with a draw at home.
Are you aware that Canada beat Mexico to qualify for the world cup.?
Are you also aware that Portugal and Italy ( European champions) will have to go through the playoffs to try to qualify for the world cup?
Football is no longer easy ooo.. the team is going through a bad time and the players are so lackluster and uncommitted.
If everyone in that team plays with the same passion, hunger and zeal as Victor Osimhen, that team will be better.
It’s not always the coach, the players are equally not helping matters.

Good points you made. The NFF is also a big part of the problem. Sacking Gernot Wrong is not a bad decision in my opinion, but am concerned about who replaces him. Maybe Clarence Seedorf would be able to turn the team around for results? Where is Sia Sia?

Our boys are good my brother but our coach dont know when to change a player to change style of play .we need a sound and technical skillful coach. Our boys are doing wonders in their various club because their coaches are good and technical .but when they play as a team for Nigeria they fail because our coach dont play them to understand their style of play .nigeria coach use fire brigade approach. Or last minute dot com approach .in modern foot ball you have to know when to change style of play to effect good goal and not wait to penalty kick.

If this is true, it is the best news from Nigeria since lockdown was lifted. If we had gone into the play offs with that quality of play against cape Verde, maybe we would have become the San Marino of Africa. I was ashamed. We pray they appoint someone who knows his onions.

This is a very good news, he has tried his best and we must give him credit but his best wasn’t good enough . Let’s go for Emmanuel Amunike and give him the type of free hand NFF gave to Rohr.

NFF never gave Rohr a free have to operate. If they did the likes of Dare and NFF president won’t be coming to train with the Super Eagles when there pending and pressing administrative work to do. If they gave him free hand, you won’t see the NFF president brandishing his white beards during the team training sections.

There is no better time to have sacked him than now as any more delay would definitely spell doom for Nigeria during the world cup play off and the AFCON competitions. With quality of players available to Super Eagles, if a technically sound coach is engaged now, the story of the Super Eagles, will be similar to that of Chelsea FC with Tuchel emergence and triumph tales after Lampard’s exit

Honestly he should have been sacked a long time. Nigeria hired him when he was used up. No single football tactics for him again. Let him go and rest.

Head or tail, we’ll still need a foreign coach. Rohr has already ran out of ideas.
We should be fast in employing a good coach that can read the game. But this is not to underestimate the achievements of
Gernot Rohr. But he surely can’t take us to the promised land, it’s glaring. A stitch in time saves nine

Blame the NFF for our problem and the so called
