The D’Tigers of Nigeria will look to qualify for their 4th FIBA World Cup as the 18-man provisional roster to prosecute the qualifiers has been revealed, with Ike Diogu and Ben Uzoh headlining the list.

Rivers Hoopers star, Owen Oriakhi who recently enjoyed a scintillating campaign with the Kingsmen, clinching the Federal Ministry For Youth and Sports Development final 8 was also included.

Hapoel Elyon star Ike Ireogbu also got a recall to the team, after missing on the Afrobasket championship.

Nigeria who are grouped alongside Cape Verde, Mali and Uganda in group A, welcome some names missing from the Men’s Afrobasket Championship held in Kigali, Rwanda.

Nigeria will open their qualifying campaign against Cape Verde on Friday 26th of November.

D’Tigers last featured in the 2019 FIBA World in China, when they sealed automatic spot for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. They enjoyed a 3/5 run, beating South Korea (66-108), Ivory Coast (83-66) and China (73-86).

Set to take place in two years in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia, the FIBA Basketball World Cup’s 2023 edition marks the first time multiple countries will host this showpiece event.
