The President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick, and General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi met with the Sports Minister Hon. Sunday Dare on Thursday, with most part of the meeting related to the future of Super Eagles technical adviser Gernot Rohr, per Colin Udoh.

The closed door meeting attended by other top officials of the NFF and sports ministry agreed Rohr has overstayed his welcome and he should be relieved of his post.

It will be recalled that the Franco-German has being under severe scrutiny after taking the Super Eagles through a rough path to qualify for the final qualifying round of the World Cup.

In line with the views of some Nigerians, the meeting held on Thursday was centered on the future of Rohr, as the NFF used the occasion to explain their position on Gernot Rohr and both parties agreed not to make any official pronouncement on the matter until all his monies have been paid. This is because of the legal implications involved in contractual agreements.

Pinnick: “Ultimately, we will come out with what benefits this country.”Pinnick also stated after the meeting that the CAF Exco had agreed that the FIFA Rankings for November would be used to determine the seeding for the CAF World Cup qualifying Draws in January

Pinnick: “The CAF Executive Committee met and decided that the last FIFA Rankings in November that will be used for the World Cup Draws.”

The minister acknowledged receipt of Gernot Rohr’s World Cup Qualifier technical report and promised that the ministry will revert after studying the paper comprehensively.

Ahead of the African Cup of Nations, the sport Ministry and the Nigeria football federation agreed to work together to ensure the quick release of funds so that the team will have a hitch free preparation and campaign at the biennial competition.
