Former Chelsea and Monaco director Michael Emenalo has turned down Newcastle offer to work as their director of football.

According to reports, the 56-year old believes the club doesn’t match his ‘ambitious plans’ are not the best for him considering their current form.

It is believed that the left-back [in his playing days] was Newcastle’s top choice to fill the role and he had the backing of some key members of the board and that he had travelled to Saudi Arabia to discuss the position with the club owners.

Emenalo previously worked in England with Chelsea as their director of football from 2011-2017 and filling the same role at Monaco from 2017-2019 before leaving the french outfit on mutual consent.
