Rennes midfielder Lesley Chimuanya Ugochukwu has netted his first senior career goal.

The 17-year old who is a product of Stade Rennais academy, got promoted to the senior rank this campaign. He has made 11 appearances for his side this season before today’s game.

The defensive midfielder was on target in Rennes 5-0 trashing of Saint Etienne. He unleashed a powerful strike into the bottom corner for his first professional goal.

He made his senior debut in April 2021 at home against Dijon. Ugochukwu was born in Rennes to Nigerian parents. He’s the nephew of former OGC Nice, Rennes, and Nigeria centre-back Onyekachi Apam, who hung up his boots in 2014 after an injury-hit spell with the Seattle Sounders in Major League Soccer.

Ugochukwu has been described as a box to box midfielder and is regarded as one of the best prospect at the club by the technical director of Rennes, Florian Maurice.
