5-time UEFA Champions league winners FC Barcelona risk elimination from the first round of the UEFA Champions league for the first time in 20 years.
The Catalan outfit may be second on the log but face a daunting task of playing an already qualifed Bayern Munich side for a second place ticket into the next round.
Elsewhere in Portugal, Two-time winners Benfica host an already eliminated Dynamo Kyiv side and need a win to go through while hoping ‘les Cules’ fail to beat Bayern.
Bayern forward, Memphis Depay has however said that the side is ready to give their all when they face the side from Bavaria.
“Of course we want to take our revenge, we are Barca and of course it’s possible.. We are not thinking of any other competition than the Champions League, because it’s the biggest.”
Depay told Barca TV
It’s been 20 years since the former La Liga champions were ousted from the Champions League group stage. The team was led by current Machester City manager Pep Guardiola. Then, Barcelona were placed alongside Italian giants AC Milan, English side Leeds United and Turkish side Besiktas. The Rossoneri topped the group while the English side qualified for the knock-out stages finishing second. The team had the likes of Carles Puyol, Luis Enrique, Sergi Barjuan, Pepe Reina, Pep Guardiola, Michael Reiziger, Phillip Cocu and Emmanuel Petit in their ranks.
