FC Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has now been confirmed to be out of action until January 2022 because of Lung issues.

The 26-year old who came out in October to indicate that he wasn’t vaccinated against COVID-19 had initially tested positive to the virus last month and would go on to be sidelined in their 2-1 loss to Augsburg, their win against Arminia Bielefeld, their 3-2 victory over Borrusia Dortmund, and also their wins against Dynamo Kyiv and recently Barcelona on the continent but was scheduled to return after the end of his quarantine period on Wednesday.

Kimmich has now been confirmed by Bayern to be sidelined until January 2022 after suffering from Lung complications due to the viral infection.

The former Stuttgart and Leipzig man posted on his Instagram page that he has ‘to be patient for a while’ before making a big return.

“I’m doing well and yesterday I got over the really long quarantine period. I’m eager to get going again and be with the team.

However, I still have to be patient for a while, as I’m not yet allowed to put full weight on my body due to a slight infiltration in my lungs.

I’ll be watching the remaining three games this year from the couch and then we’ll be attacking together again in January.”

Kimmich is through alongside FC Bayern to the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions league and will know their opponents when the draws take place on Monday but the versatile player will hope to be in full gear when the knockouts begin in February next year.
