Goals from Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio were enough to hand Carlo Ancelotti’s men the win in the 169th Madrid derby that went down on Sunday night at the Bernabeu Stadium.

The hosts came into the encounter on the back of a 2-0 league win over Real Sociedad last weekend while Simeone’s men came into the game having lost 2-1 to Mallorca the previous week.

Madrid doubled their lead in the second half through Marco Asensio who benefitted from Vinicius Junior’s second assists of the night.

The visitors rallied efforts to pull at least a goal back but the Madrid defense stood tall.

2-0 it ended in favour of Real Madrid who extend their lead being at the top over 4th placed Atletico to 13 points, handing Madrid their 11th league derby win, 18 points over Barca and Ancellotti’s men are now in full control of the La liga title race.
