Reports breaking have it that the African Cup Nations billed to kick-off next year January could be cancelled.
This comes after European Clubs Association released a statement through FIFA that it has no intention of releasing African players for the tournament.
The bi-annual continental tourney was scheduled to take place in January 2021 but was moved to January 2022 because of COVID-19 and is reportedly under scrutiny and there are now fears it may not hold.

Talks are still ongoing and the possibility of the tournament holding is now on the knife edge.
However according to Ghanaian journalist Saddick Adams via his Twitter account said reports about cancellation of the tournament have been ‘quashed’ by CAF and tagged as ‘Fake news’.
CAF have quashed reports circulating on several European platforms suggesting that #AFCON2021 is on the brink of cancellation.
