Paris FC President has described the fans who disrupted the intriguing Coupe de France game between the French capital’s second club, Paris FC and Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon as Morons.
The match was rescheduled after crowd trouble and pitch invasions at the Stade Charlety yesterday. Fans of both teams clashed after 45minutes, with flares thrown around.
“I am disillusioned and angry because there was a great party in Charléty. We had a lot of people. There were families and children. And then a bunch of morons ruined everything. This bunch of morons are the Lyon ultras.” Paris Football Club President, Pierre Ferracci said after the game was suspended on Friday.
Lyon were docked one point in Ligue 1 after their home game against Olympique de Marseille was abandoned last month after Dimitri Payet had been hit by a bottle thrown from the stands.
Pierre Ferracci, Paris FC President believes Lyon President needs to act fast about the Lyon Ultras, and take a bold step before it’s too late.
“If Jean-Michel does not do what Robin Leproux did a few years ago at PSG, if he does not clean up his supporters, he will pull Olympique Lyon and French football down.”
The French minister of sport, Roxana Maracineanu, also expressed her dissatisfaction and asked Le Graët to act firmly.
“I deplore these disastrous incidents. I have read the message from Minister Roxana Maracineanu, I totally agree with her. I can assure everyone that by Monday, we will get to work.” Nöel Le Graët said.
French football has been marred by crowd trouble this season, prompting the government to announce that games would be abandoned if a player or a referee is injured by a projectile thrown from the stands.
