The final game of Matchweek 18 saw Liverpool drop behind in the title race after a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspurs.

Liverpool who came from behind to beat Newcastle at home during the week fielded a skeletal midfield pair which saw teenager Tyler Morton make his debut at the centre of the pitch as Thiago, Fabinho alongside Van Dijk were out due to Covid issues. They also missed the services of their captain, Jordan Henderson due to Illness.

Antonio Conte’s side who didn’t kick a ball the previous Matchweek had a chance to field a strong side for the home game but Ryan Sessegnon got the nod to start ahead of Reguilon at Left wing-back.

Spurs took the lead through off-form striker Harry Kane after an incisive break away.

Liverpool who have been sloppy with their passes eventually levelled matters through Diogo Jota who headed home a beautiful Andy Robertson cross.

The Reds went 2-1 up after the hour through Robertson before letting 3 points slip through their grasps. An Alisson error gifted Son the equalizer and then things got worse for Jurgen Klopp after Andy Robertson saw a red card.

City have now extended the lead at the summit to three points while the same set of points separate Liverpool from Chelsea.

The title race may look like a horse race now but with loads of games still left, Jurgen Klopp’s men will seek solace in the return of their top guns.
