It was a goal glut for North-London outfit Arsenal as they booked their place in the Semi-finals of this season’s Carabao Cup.

A hat-trick from Eddie Nketiah and goals from Nicolas Pepe alongside debutant Charlie Patino put the Gunners through to the competition’s last four.

The Gunners were already in the safe zone as early as the first half as goals from Nketiah and Ivorian winger Nicolas Pepe put them in a controlling 2-goal lead. However visitors Sunderland pulled one back through Nathan Broadhead in the 31st minute.

Two more finishes from Eddie Nketiah put Arsenal in course for the win while debutant Charlie Patino came off the bench in the 80th minute to round up the route.

Speaking after the game, Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta spoke about Nketiah’s contract situation and promised the striker whose contract expires in he summer of 2022 will stay at the Emirates.

“We really want Nketiah to stay at Arsenal,” Arteta told Sky Sports

“He needs extra minutes. That is his want and that’s what we try to do. Eddie is an essential part of the squad.”

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for Mikel Arteta’s gunners who will be cruising into Christmas day in the Premier League’s top 4 and will now add a Semi-final ticket as an icing to their cake.
