Super Eagles’ coach designate, Jose Peseiro has reportedly opted to have a conversation with axed Eagles’ gaffer Gernot Rohr before progressing in his contractual talks with the NFF.
According to reports gathered through Owngoalnigeria.com, the Portuguese has demanded a three-and-a-half-month advance payment be paid before he takes the job. This means he will have received his pay until March next year which will be the time Nigeria will execute their World Cup qualifying Playoffs.
The former national team of Venezuela coach according to the reports doesn’t want to go through the same ordeal he passed through with the Venezuelan FA where he went 12 months without a pay, a similar scenario to Rhor’s worries during his time with the 3-time African champions.
“His (Peseiro) wages will be handled by the Federal Government of Nigeria per an agreement reached between the minister for Youth and Sports with the NFF following the sacking of Rhor as coach.” The report concluded.
Gernot Rhor was sacked recently due to poor performance of the national team. Although Austin Eguavoen has been named to take over on an interim basis, Jose Peseiro is touted by many to replace the Franco-German.
