Another night to forget for Barcelona fans was around yesterday again after a disappointing 1-1 draw against 10-man Sevilla.
Xavi’s men had fallen behind in the first half after Sevilla took the lead with a nice corner-kick routine and a nice finish by Papu Gómez but the Blaugrana found their way back almost immediately after Ronald Araujo headed home his side’s equalizer from an Ousmane Dembele corner at the stroke of halftime.
In the second half Sevilla were reduced to 10 men after French defender Jules Koundé snapped and threw the ball at Jordi Alba’s face in front of the referee and got his marching orders.
However Barcelona couldn’t take the advantage as the hosts stood their ground to ensure spoils are shared on the night.
The result means Barcelona will finish the year outside European places or spots.
It doesn’t bode well for a side who have also been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League at the group stages.
