Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard has been ruled out of being at the touchline for Aston Villa’s next two games.

The Villans boss will miss his side’s boxing day fixture at home to Chelsea and also their away match against Leeds United at Elland Road after testing positive to Covid-19 (and will have to self isolate) according to the club statement.

“Aston Villa can confirm Head Coach Steven Gerrard will be unable to attend our next two Premier League matches with Chelsea and Leeds United as he will be isolating after testing positive for COVID-19.” The club statement read.

Aston Villa have been on fine form ever since Gerrard was appointed as Villa have picked 12 points under his tenure, a feat only bested by Liverpool and Manchester in the league.

The five-time league winners sit 10th on the league standings with a 2-0 win a way from home against Norwich their most recent result.

If the fixture goes ahead, it will be their first time in the last three gameweeks in which Villa actually get to play as their last two games were postponed due to Covid concerns.

Steven Gerrard joined Aston Villa from Rangers to replace current Norwich manger Dean Smith after he was axed by the club.
