There is a reason to believe that the Real Madrid squad is growing in expectation for the arrival of Antonio Rudiger.
The Chelsea and Germany defender is yet to sign a new contract with the London club with talks over contact extension hitting rocks.
Negotiations over a new deal has been unsuccessful as the player is demanding more than the club is offering.
The Blues are largely reluctant to make the 28-year old one of their highest earners and it seems the Abramovich-owned club have resigned to losing the German when his contract expires in June 2022.
The former AS Roma player is free to be a approached by clubs as he is eligible to sign a pre-contract for any Club that wants his signature in January.
A number of clubs are vying and justling for his signature which include Bayern Munich, Liverpool Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester United.
News making rounds from the Telegraph has it that confidence is growing among the Real Madrid squad that the Chelsea no.2 will favor a cross over to Madrid when his contract runs out. It is likely that his friends on the inside Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois both former teammates at Chelsea and David Alaba a player he (Rudiger) failed to convince to move to Cheslea last season are his ties to the Capital based club.
The 2017 FIFA Confederations cup winner with Germany was a key player in Chelsea’s 2020/21 Champions League title winning triumph as he has been in imperious form since Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard as Chelsea’s manager in January which has seen him (Rudiger) being deployed as one of the centre backs in the back three.
Rudiger’s failure to agree to a new contract will be of a concern to manager Thomas Tuchel who is also faced with the contract situation of Andreas Christensen a player sides like Juventus and Barcelona are monitoring.
However, Chelsea may also have some transfer tricks up their sleeve as
they have been linked alot of time to Sevilla’s Jules Koundé, perhaps a Rudiger move to Madrid may just trigger the transfer.
