In the wake of recent backlash the Confederation of African Football has recieved all through the month of December, several ex footballers and active footballers have stood up for the sub-sharan continent.

Anthony Baffoe who is a former Ghana international footballer has come out to defend the decision of CAF to hold AFCON in January 2022.

He believes that the AFCON and black players deserve a high level of respect instead of the rubbishing it has got.

The Deputy General Secretary of CAF also reiterated that the tournament is the continent’s form of world cup.

“The Africa Cup Of Nations is like our own world cup, the only thing I want to add now is to tell you to respect the Africa Cup of Nations and respect African players.”

Ian Wright who played for Arsenal and England during his active days as a footballer also came out on Instagram to lend his support to the black continent.
