Gabon suffered a blow ahead of next week’s Group C African Cup Of Nations game against Comoros in Yaounde, after captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

The French born striker was seen in Dubai with OGC Nice forward and teammate, Mario Lemina in Gabon’s build-up to the AFCON tournament.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was released early from the club to join Gabon for the AFCON because he did not feature in Saturday’s Premier League match at home to Manchester City.

The 32-year-Old striker has fallen out of favour with Arteta at Arsenal and was stripped of the captaincy last month following a “disciplinary breach”. He last played in a 2-1 league defeat at Everton on December 6, missing five games in all competitions.
