The League Management Company (LMC) have announced the immediate expulsion of Dakkada FC assistant manager Sunday Etefia for assaulting a match official during a league match.
The LMC after concluding investigations evicted Etefia as well as slamming a N3.5m fine on Dakkada FC and banishing them to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin following the fatal incident that occurred.
Assistant Referee Sani Baba was assaulted by Sunday Etefia after their clash against Remo Stars in a Npfl fixture.
The match officials also didn’t come out of the scrutiny unscathed as their actions have now birthed a review of their licence.
It is gathered that Match Commissioner Dr. Mrs N. Anyawu failed to report the incident in depth in her report as she was even wrong with her claims saying the perpetrator was a fan.
Similarly, match referee Mathew Tanimu is also up for a performance review due to failure to report the match on time as the incident was a serious one.
Etefia’s coaching license too will be reviewed as the LMC stated that he has “failed the threshold to be a coach under the NFF licensce”.
A minimum of three games will of Dakkada FC has been taken to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin. Also the club will be paying N250,000 each to the assaulted assistant ref and the General to cover all expenses.
They were also fined N3m for inability to provide adequate security for the game.
However, both Etefia and Dakkada FC can either choose to accept their judgement or they can demand for a disciplinary hearing.
