The FIFA THE BEST AWARDS™ ceremony took place on Monday night at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland and the best players, managers have been awarded according to their works.

Christine Sinclair got the first award – The Best FIFA Special Award for breaking the all-time international goalscoring record (188).

Manchester United and Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo was also given an award – The Best FIFA special award for becoming the highest international goals scorer (115) .

Olympique Lyonnais Women’s shotstopper Christiane Endler got vindicated this time as she beat off competition from Ann-Katrin Berger and Stephanie Lynn Marie-Labbe to clinch the best FIFA women’s goalkeeper award.

Chelsea Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was pitted against Manuel Neuer and Gianluigi Donnarumma. Edouard Mendy came out on top to clinch the award for the best FIFA men’s Goalkeeper. He would go on to make history as the first African to win the award since it’s inception.

Sevilla winger Erik Lamela won the Puskas award for his spectacular Rabona against Arsenal while he was at Tottenham Hotspurs.

Chelsea Women coach Emma Hayes won the best women’s coach of 2021 after leading Chelsea to the domestic treble. She beat off competition from Previous winner Sarina Wiegman and Lluis Cortes.

Thomas Tuchel was named the best men’s coach after his first year in charge of Chelsea. Tuchel led Chelsea to Champions league Glory and he also won them the Super Cup in 2021. He beat off competition from Pep Guardiola and Roberto Mancini.

Barcelona forward Alexia Putellas rounded off a spectacular year as she won the best FIFA women’s player after winning the Champions League, La Liga, Copa de la Reina and the balon d’or.

The biggest award handed out on the night saw Poland and Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski retain the Best FIFA men’s player award after beating competiton from Mohammed Salah and Lionel Messi.
