Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has expressed his thoughts on Nigeria’s performance so far in Cameroon and is hopeful the side can go on to win the tournament.

The Ilorin-born forward told Babatunde Ojora of Ojbsports.com after their 2-0 win against Guinea-Bissau that the collectiveness of the team has been the key to their wonderful performance so far in Cameroon.

Nigeria are soaring at the continental showpiece dropping hats-off performances and they are they only side with nine maximum points in the group stage of the event.

“For us, I think this is a team that is collective, the most important thing is the victory I’ve always said, and we both win a game together even if I don’t play.” He said.

When asked what he thinks is working for the team maintaining a 100% record so far the Union Berlin hitman said the unity in the team is what is helping them achieve the results.

“I think it’s a place where we fight for each other, the love and the strength together we just play together as a team and we share everything together on the pitch and also outside the field and I think the unity is what is helping the team.”

Ojbsports.com also asked him if he thinks Nigeria can make it to the finals and he made it clear the team is in Cameroon to bring home the crown.

“This is why we are here to get to the final and hopefully get the cup” He said.

Nigeria are through to the knockout rounds of the tournament.

Should Nigeria win the title in Cameroon this year, it will be their fourth crown having won the 1980, 1994 and the 2013 editions.
