Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is reportedly set to complete a loan move to Sevilla.
This concludes the multi-faceted episodes of Martial and interim manager Ralf Rangnick as there had been hassles and soft spats between the pair leading up to the Frenchman’s exit.
Anthony Martial had been keen on a switch away from the club in search of regular game time as he had been scarcely seen in the Red and White jersey of Manchester United.
Having realised he wouldn’t break into the United first team, the former Monaco player was confirmed by his manager Rangnick to have requested to leave the club but Rangnick who had just arrived at the time reasoned they could hold the player for a longer period saying they haven’t received an offer and he will remain their player
“Anthony wants to go. He told me he feels is right time for a change”,
“As far as I know, there has been no offer from other club. As long as this is case, he will stay”
Rangnick told newsmen at the time.
Fast forward few weeks after that, Manchester United travelled to Aston Villa without the former FIFA Golden Boy award recipient where they went on to relinquish a two-goal lead to draw 2-2.
After that game Rangnick told the press at the post-match conference that Martial refused to travel with the squad to execute the fixture.
However, Martial took to his Instagram handle to refute such claims saying he ‘will never refuse to play” for Man United.
“I will never refuse to play a match for Manchester United. I’ve been here for 7 years and I never disrespected and will never disrespect the club and the fans”.
He posted on his Instagram story.
Few days after, Ralf Rangnick finally readdressed the issue and said he has held talks with Martial and all rough patches have been set straight and things have taken a smooth look.
But reliable transfer broker Fabrizio Romano has it on good account that Anthony Martial is close to joining Spanish side Sevilla on loan till the end of the season.
Romano had earlier hinted on his twitter account few hours ago today that:
“Anthony Martial will be in Sevilla in the coming hours. Monchi was working on this deal since two months – deal sealed with Manchester United, straight loan and no buy option.Fabrizio Romano
As at the time this story was compiled, Anthony Martial has been said to be “flying to Sevilla with his agent” with the addition that the loan deal will be signed in the hours to come.
Anthony Martial has been sparsely involved in action for the Old Trafford based side clocking just 367 minutes in 11 games starting just two of those.
His only goal was in the 1-1 draw against Everton earlier this season during the Ole Gunnar Solksjaer era.
His best ever season in the United shirt was the 18/19 season when he went on to net a total of 23 goals and provided 12 assists in 48 games across all competitions.
