The Premier League have released the nominees for the English Premier league player of the month for January 2022.
Six players have been selected for their unrivalled brilliance through the course of the month.
These are Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, Manchester United goalie David de Gea, West Ham midfielder Jarrod Bowen, Wolves midfielder Joao Moutinho, Leeds midfielder Jack Harrison and Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse.
Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City)
Belgian playmaker Kevin de Bruyne racked up a goal and assist in three games. His goal contributions were pivotal in Manchester City’s flawless run. De Bruyne’s solitary goal in the match against his former team Chelsea helped the Cityzens rack up three points. He also assisted the Laporte’s equaliser in the 1‐1 draw against Southampton.
David de Gea (Manchester United)
The man in between the sticks for Man United has been the saving grace for the team so far. Starting all four matches, De Gea made 22 saves, 5 more than any other goalkeeper, his heroics against West Ham also earned him a Clean Sheet.
Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United)
Sensational English playmaker Jarrod Bowen put a scintillating performance to keep up his side’s aim of making it to Europe again. His brace against Norwich and a goal against Leeds saw him bag three goals in three matches.
Joao Moutinho (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho was in spectacular form for Bruno Lage’s team. His magnificent performance saw off a 3‐match winning streak. Moutinho’s solitary goal aagainst Man United gave his team three points. The deep‐lying playmaker was also Man of the match in the 2‐1 victory against Brentford, he scored the opener and also assisted the winner.
Jack Harrison (Leeds United)
January saw Leeds United wide midfielder Jack Harrison put on his scoring boots. He started all three matches, bagging 4 goals including a hat‐trick against West Ham United. He also scored in his side’s 3‐1 victory over Burnley.
James Ward-Prowse (Southampton)
Ward‐Prowse had a beautiful performance for his team in January. Though, his team were not the best of the best. Ward‐Prowse scored a stunning free kick in his side’s loss to Wolves. He contributed an assist in the victory against Brentford and also a tireless performance in the 1‐1 draw against runaway league leaders Manchester City.
The public vote will be combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the winner, who will be announced next week.
