Italian Giants Juventus have announced the signing of Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic for a fee worth €70 million.

The Turin club announced that they have added the Serbian international to their ranks on Friday for the fee stated above after the player had put pen to paper.

The 22-year old was heavily linked to Arsenal for a potential winter swoop with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta making him their top target but he chose to remain in the Serie A and signed for the Old Lady in Turin.

A dive into the transfer detail shows that the €70m fee will be paid to Fiorentina in three installments as well as a potential €10m in add-ons. The agents fee is set around €11.6m with additional details inclusive. Vlahovic’s salary will see him earn €7m net per season.

Speaking after tying up a contract, Vlahovic raved about the pride in donning the Black and White shirt of Juventus.

“Juventus represents pride, tradition, family. Juventus are always there until the last minute, they never give up,

The team always comes first, I am at the disposal of the coach and my teammates, who I will try to help in the best way possible.

We always want more, and we want to improve in the future. Today is my birthday, which is really wonderful, a special day for me.

This is one of the happiest birthdays I’ve experienced so far. I want to make Juventus proud. We will always fight for all goals, as they say, fino alle fine!”

Vlahovic has been handed the Jersey no.7 which was previously donned by legendary Portugese and current Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

Vlahović began his senior career at Partizan, making his debut in 2016. He went on to help them win a league title and two Serbian Cups, before leaving for Italian club Fiorentina in 2018.

While in Florence, he was awarded Serie A Best Young Player in 2020–21, having scored 21 league goals and he has now completed a switch to Juve.

Having represented Serbia internationally at youth level, Vlahović made his senior debut in the UEFA Nations League in 2020. He scored four goals in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification, helping his side qualify for the final tournament in the process.

Vlahovic joins the unending list of players who have moved from Fiorentina to Juventus, a list which boasts of the likes of Giorgio Chiellini, Juan Cuadrado, Federico Bernadeschi and Federico Chiesa – all who are current players at the club.
